NEWS: Blastp alignments enabled

Update: Search Blast Results now also supports filtering by E-value and score.

We have been made aware that there is a "hidden feature" to display Blast alignments for each hit. This feature was hidden by small bug in Tripal, that would prevent Blastp results from displaying the alignment details. We have applied the patch described in the report, thanks to Matthew Hobbs for pointing this out.

The Blast hits from the Blast vs. NR run now contain a link View Alignments with which to open the alignment details.

This looks like this:

NEWS: Blast vs. NR import finshed

We have finshed importing the Blastp vs NR run of the new genes. Blast results can be searched via

There you can search within descriptions, accessions, or filter by organism. For each gene, the blast results show up on the gene's details page under the menue item "nr Homologs" on the right. Only the best 25 hits for each gene have been imported.

Bug in new Authentication System

Some users have stumbled over a little bug after "upgrading their accounts". The bug would cause users to loose their assigned roles every time they log in to LiceBase via the new login, which as its main visible effect leads to that users with role annotator (most users, those who can post and edit RNAi) are unable to edit or create further RNAi experiments.

The problem is resolved for seemingly all users.

Changes in Login links

I have changed the login block in the left menu to avoid confusion. Please use the federated login. Old login is deprecated and is going to disappear. Please update your account information. Note that the new account data do not work with the old login.

The logout link has moved to the top as well, was hard to spot before.

If you forgot your new password, please follow the link 'Forgot pasword' and click 'forgot password'. Enter your (new) username and click 'Submit'

UPDATE: Importing genome build for LSalAtls2 assembly.

We have received a final version of the genome build from the EBI. It is internally called gene build 6. I will start to import the gene predictions into LiceBase from the GFF file we have received.

UPDATE: Import has finished. The annotated features should appear in LiceBase and the genome browser.

Changes: RNAi form Tabs and others

In order to unclutter the RNAi page, I have installed a new module, that allows to split up large forms into several tabs. Now, there will appear a list of tabs: General, Sample, etc. replacing the fieldgroups. Please have a look and tell me if that is better or worse smiley

Also, the RNAi gallery does no longer display empty items for experiments with missing gallery images.
