Localization of L. salmonis RXR (LsRXR) transcripts in adult female salmon louse. (A) Light microscopy of mature female indicating where the different tissues in the lice are located (gl = gland. Ov = ovary, ovd = oviduct, scv = subcuticular tissue, in = intestine, oo = oocytes). Figs. B to G shows hybridization using antisense probe (large picture) and sense (i.e.negative control) (small insert) of comparable sections. (B) shows positive hybridization in the ovary. The signal was detected in the lumen of the ovary tube. In C, a positive signal is detected in the cytoplasm of the immature oocytes in the oviduct and the more mature vitellogenic oocytes (D) in the genital segment are also positive. LsRXR is transcribed in the subcuticular tissue (E) and in several glands (F) and the intestine (G).
