Upgrading accounts to access licebase and the genome browser

Some of the first accounts cannot access the genome browser tool using the same login data as for licebase, but only the LiceBase web-page. These users have used the login and password fields on the home page: https://lb-test.bccs.uib.no. Users who have used the "Federated login" link instead and those who have eventually used the "black login page" sucessfully are good to go. To check if your account is already upgraded, log out and try to use logging in using the "Federated login". If that doesn't work, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to LiceBase
  2. check your login-name. Unfortunately, the federated login doesn't support login names with spaces in them, but some user have such names. Visit your account profile under "My account" (on the left) and check your user name. If it doesn't contain spaces you are good to go.
  3. if it contains spaces (e.g. "Jane User") change it. Press the "Edit" Button and change the field "Username"  by using a name without spaces ("JaneUser"). Press "Save" at the bottom of the page. Remember this user name well, it is needed for the registration process, so write it down. If you are having trouble with these steps drop me a line, I can also change the username for you, I just don't want to do it without the user noticing.
  4. Log-out
  5. Send me an email, stating that you wish to upgrade your account.
  6. You will receive an invitation email to join LiceBase. Follow the link "click here"
  7. Enter the exact user name from LiceBase (step 3).
  8. Complete the registration process by choosing a (new) password and entering details.
  9. Use the new login and password with the "Federated Login"
